ABOUT US
Mill Creek Homestyle Bakery launched in 2023 after Emily Burns decided to pursue her passion for cooking and baking.
Emily grew up watching her grandma cook amazing meals in a tiny kitchen, this always inspired her to “love” people through the preparation of food. Emily had several siblings and helped her mom care for them. This negated her to make good, affordable meals at an early age. After marrying, Emily continued to show family and friends her love through food. She strived hard to make holidays and events special with her homemade treats and delicious meals. Emily attended Mountain State University and obtained a bachelor's degree in the legal field, but as a busy mom and with lots of mouths to feed, she continued her love of baking and feeding those around her.
Emily started to make cakes, cinnamon rolls, breads, sticky buns, cookies and much more all in her home, just like her grandma once did. She began selling a family favorite “Old Fashioned Apple Cake” in the fall of 2023 at Remember when Country Store, located on Rt 92. Everything she cooked she brought to her friends and church community to sample, attempting to perfect her craft. Her church community and her best friend, Leslie, pushed her to start a catering business. Emily had not given much thought to making her passion a career until Leslie tragically passed away.
With the passing of her best friend, Emily realized she wanted to start her dream now. With the backing of her family, friends, and her strong church community, she knew this was God’s path for her. She knew now was the time to fully pursue a career in baking and continue to spread her love through food. Shortly after her dream became a reality, giving life to Mill Creek.
